Dear Parents,

December has been an exciting time for us. Christmas workshops, school photos, Santa’s visit and finally, special Christmas activities and caroling with the whole Small School.

The girls are making a wonderful progres!

In English, Ms. Lindsay has been working with them on rhyming words, patterns, making letters with their bodies, matching capital and small case letters, reading small books from purple phonics books and continuing to focus on one letter per class in their phonics books.

In math, we are adding and subtracting within 10! The girls already remember how to write almost all the numbers 0-10 and they understand that plus means put together, minus means take away.

In science, we have just fnished talking about the differences between day and night – what is the sky like, what can we see there, what color can the Sun and the Moon be, how the Sun travels across the sky, and what we do in the morning/evening.

In social studies, some difficult concepts came up – buying, selling and trading. We also talked a lot about Christmas, obviously J

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All the best,

Ms. Agnieszka

Merry Christmas Grade 2 Children and Parents!

Merry Christmas Grade 2 Children and Parents!

Dear Parents of Grade 2,

First, I’d like to inform you what we have been discussing in English classes these past few weeks. We have been focussing on our Spelling tests and improving the childrens’ test scores and they have proved to do rather well! Also, we have discussed the usage of punctuation. For example, when do we use question marks, exclamation marks, capital letters. Many children have shown a great enthusiasm for writing stories and we have also been reading them aloud. Furthermore, we have been looking at Comprehension and ensuring that children are understanding the texts and answering questions based on the stories.

We had a wonderful day on Friday and did some fun Christmas activities. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and may you rest with your families and I look forward to seeing all of you in the new year!

All the best,

Miss Lindsay
