Math – we were learning to order the numbers from 0 to 20 but wait, that’s not all! We are actually counting to 100 already! We still mistake the names of the numbers (twenty-ten ?) or the order of the digits (45, is that 4 and 5 or 5 and 4 ?) but we are definitely getting there. Yes, 100 chart is what we’re going to work on this week!
Language arts – working with letters Nn and Ww, getting better at reading short sentences, also with some new words – BIG, LITTLE.
Science – we’re finishing our unit on water (bodies of water/ the importance of water) and will start one on matter this week. That means using a lot of our sorting skills that we’ve practices in the rocks unit.

Language Arts: Last week we focused on the Long I vowel. We wrote sentences using Long I vowels and worked in our Phonics workbooks.
Math: Last week we went up to 150 using tens and ones! We also compared numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to symbols. (< > =)
Science: Last week we went into greater detail about animal environments. We discussed Oceans, Rainforests, Deserts, Prairies, and Tundras and learned about animals and plants that live in each category.
3rd grade has been practicing multiplication and writing their own story problems to illustrate a multiplication problems. They played a multiplication ball game having loads of fun.
Last week in Science we finished our unit on Earth Changing processes by creating a project where students made a poster about one process that they chose. On Friday, students presented their projects to the class.
In English we had spelling words with prefixes a-, af-, al-, and ad-. We also read a story called The Magic Finger and answered questions to work on our comprehension.
In the past week 2nd grade continues to practice 2-digit addition and solving the addition story problems. They were also creating their own story problems or composing questions to the given problem.
2nd grade did a revision of the planets of the Solar System and their characteristics. Each person colored their own solar system while solving mathematical problems, they also presented one planet each in front of the whole class. Then we moved on to the Earth’s rotation and the change of day into night.
Last week in English we had spelling words with -ful and -ly suffixes. We learned and reviewed when we need to use capital letters. We read a story and answered questions to work on our comprehension. We also starting a read aloud together of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
