Math: In math we practiced some easy multiplication facts and went back to subtraction and addition with regrouping. We played a game that revised skip counting and solved a lot of word problems.
Language Arts: In Language arts we continued working on adverbs and we began to discuss possessive pronouns (my,mine, his, hers, our, ours, your, yours). We also read a biography about Roy Chapman Andrews and identifying the difference between facts and opinions listed in the text.
Science: In science we continued our lessons on weather. We reviewed the water cycle and we began to discuss severe weather storms and how meteorologists predict weather so people can be prepared.
I hope everyone has a wonderful winter holiday!! See you in 2 weeks! 🙂
In math we revised skip counting by playing a game. We also continue to practise division with remainders and the students learn the strategy to divide big numbers with remainders.
In science we talked about energy sources: fossil-fuels, different types of renewable energy and alternative/nuclear energy. We also learnt how to conserve the resources by applying the 3Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle.
In English we continued practicing complex sentences. We compared compound and complex sentences. We played a game to practice identifying both types of sentences as well as independent and dependent clauses. We read a nonfiction text about volcanoes and listed facts that we learned. We also started a read aloud book: Ramona Quimby age 8.
