English: We were learning about the PLOT, SETTING, and CHARACETRS in a text.
Spelling words:

Math: Shapes shapes shapes! Properties of squares, rectangles, triangles, circles and ovals – that’s out thing now 🙂

Science: We’re at the weather unit, learning about seasons, types of weather, and how to measure it.

4th grade news

We have started spending some lesson time preparing for International Day, which is on Wednesday June 14.

 

English

We had our weekly spelling test. We also read an informational text about hurricanes, which helped us learn about how hurricanes are formed and named. We followed this up with a newspaper article about Hurricane Katrina. We have also been reading the book, Because of Winn Dixie together as a class.

 

Science

In science we have been learning about the orbits and rotation of Earth and the moon and how Earth’s axis makes the seasons.

English: In English, we have been revising the alphabet in groups working with tall and small letters and have been working with tricky words ( does made, there,  ).
Science: In Science, We have been reviewing about different plants and their names.
Social studies: In Social studies, we have been reviewing about toys around the world.

3rd grade weekly news

English

In English we continued working on context clues and finding definitions of challenging words using other parts of the text. We have been focusing on writing as well with free writing and journals in class and for homework.

Math

In math we learnt to count area and perimeter of a rectangle. The students could also play with making different shapes with tangrams.

Science

In science we talked about properties of matter and how to measure them and also about mixtures and solutions and a different chemical and physical changes to the properties of matter.

Science: In science we have been reviewing plants needs, parts, and life cycle. This week we planted some beans and we will be observing how they grow.

Language Arts: In Language arts we continued working on context clues to find the meaning of challenging words in a text. We also reviewed synonyms and homophones.

Math: In math we learned about arrays, rows and columns and then we found different ways of cutting shapes in halves, thirds and fourths. We also revised telling time.
