English: We have been working on some silly rhymes 🙂 Learning about the 3 Rs: rhyme, rhythm, repetition. The kids wrote their own poems in groups. You can find them on our main board by the entrance door.
Since the school is off on Wednesday, the spelling test will take place on Friday.
Spelling words: life, cycle, add, yellow, birth, thirst, third, shirt, dirt, things
Math: We started working on place values – hundresds, tens and ones.
Science: We just finished the topic of plants parts and their functions. Now we know what the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds do 🙂
English: In English, we have been working with the sound h from Jolly phonics and reviewed concept words ( chore clean, cook, inside, outside, work ).
Science: In Science, We have continued talking about good nutrition exercising and good hygiene.
Social studies: In Social Studies, we have continued talking about how families are the same and different and doing activities around this.
Math: In math, we have been reviewing spatial patterns.

In math we learnt the properties of multiplication and addition: the identity property, the associative property, the zero property. They also practiced telling time and revised multiplication and division.
In Language Arts we learned about concrete and abstract nouns and identified the difference between the two. We read two texts, one fiction and the other nonfiction and compared and contrasted the two. We also talked about how the characters in the fiction text feel and behave.
In science we began to learn about plant life cycles and the various steps that go into growing a plant or a tree. We learned how seeds are spread in various ways and how bees and birds help pollinate plants.
In math we continue to practice addition and subtraction to 10. The kids also learnt to solve problems with an unknown addend. Then we learnt about halves and quarters and telling time: full hours and half past.
in science we revised the materials that things are made of. We also learnt about animals’ adaptations to life with little water, like on a desert and different uses of water and how to preserve this resource.
In Language Arts we finished up our Jolly Phonics, reviewed all the sounds, and began to read in our Journey’s books.
