In Language Arts we reviewed adjectives, nouns, and verbs. We also read a story and discussed the story element of characters.
In math the students learnt and practiced to solve equations with an unknown addend, practiced adding up to 10 and solved story problems.
In science we revise the types of animals and what are the characteristics of each type: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects: their body coverings, how they are born, how they breath.
In Language arts we reviewed irregular plural nouns and the important parts of a paragraph.
In science we continued our unit on animal/ plant adaptations and read about behavioral adaptations. We also reviewed animal life cycles.
In math the students practised division within 100 and multiplying 2-digit numbers by a 1-digit number with regrouping. They also worked on understanding and writing their own story problems with multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.
In English we learned the difference between common and proper nouns and practiced where they should be capitalized. We also worked on some vocabulary.
In science we had a quiz about plant and animal adaptations.
English: In English, we focused on grammar – possesie pronouns – my, mine, your, yours, his, her, hers, our, ours, their, theirs. As we didn’t have the spelling test, the words stay the same. We will write it on Friday.
Math: It’s all about money, money, money, we are counting money, money, money… Counting by 10s and 100s (złoty and grosze).
Science: We talked about how animals and plants depend on each other – animals use plants for shelter, a hiding place, as food, and for oxygen; plants use animals and insects to carry seeds and pollen.
Let’s not forget it was THINKSGIVING DAY at the Small School. Just look at our wonderful turkeys 🙂
Kindergarten children learned the names of geometrical shapes. They learned number bonds to 3 and 4, and they practised counting in 2’s to 10.
In language arts we made the “h” poster and learned some words that start with h. We also practised sounding out/reading/writing short words, and we learned the nursery rhyme “Jack and Jill”.
