Here is what we did last week:
English: We read a text about dolphins (focus on informational text type) and worked on our narrative writing skills (writing a true story). Since Friday is half a day, we will have our spelling test on Thursday this week.

Math: It’s geometry time! The kids have been working on getting to know the shapes from different angles, literally – right angle, acute angle, obtuse angle. They also tried constructing some shapes based on their characteristics: square, rectangle, trapezium, rhombus.
Science: We finished the topic of adaptations and looked at some changes taking place in the nature. The class got excited with floating straws experiment – showing how polar bear’s fur (its hairs are hollow inside) helps him to float in the water.
Last week we worked on the sound “d”.
We continued our work on patterns in maths, practised sums to 7, and sorted and measured sticks.
We learned how to make snowflakes, and we made a beautiful winter/Christmas art project.
We also talked about old and new toys.
We had a lot of fun reading and watching the story of Stickman, and talking about sticks.
English: In English, we were working with sound u from Jolly phonics and learned new concept words ( city, country, farm, neighbor, people, town).
Science: In Science, We reviewed the effects of weather on people and plants and basic needs of animals.
Social studies: In Social Studies, we have reviewed connecting past and present times.
Math: In math, we have continued adding up to 5.
As always have a great week.
In math we continued the multiplication and division practice as well as solving word problems and counting time. Then we revised units of mass and solved problems concerning mass. On Wednesday December 20th we will have a multiplication and division test.
In Science we began discussing food chains and different types of organisms like producers, consumers, decomposers as well as carnivores, herbivores, omnivores.
In Language Arts we read a fiction text and discussed characters, plot, and setting. We also discussed articles: a, an, the and their proper use.
