Math
In math the students have been introduced to the long division strategy. We also revised word problems with comparing and solved word problems with missing information or too much information.
Language Arts
In language arts we continued learning about poetry, this week we did Acrostic poems.
Science
In science we discussed what a hydrologist is and what important tasks they do so people have clean water and the right amount.
Math
In math we continue solving word problems that require comparing numbers and using key words more or fewer. We still practice addition and subtraction over 10. We have also started to work on telling time: full hours and half past.
Science
In science we revised the topics of weather and seasons: how does the nature change in each season and what do we need to do in different weather.
Language Arts
In language Arts this week we read a folktale about a rabbit who thinks the sky is falling. We discussed cause and effect within the story. We also learned about prepositions and prepositional phrases.
English
This week we had a spelling and vocab test. We did a practice test together to learn strategies for taking a test and to test comprehension. We also read a folktale about John Henry.
Science
This week we learned about chemical reactions and practiced distinguishing between chemical and physical changes.
