This week we learned about the Water Cycle.

This week, on Friday, we went Ice Skating at Zimowy Narodowy. Pictures will be uploaded to IAS website.
Many children were sick last week, and so we slowed down the pace and did some revision. We practised doing subtractions, and we practised counting to 50. We read short phrases and we learned to read and write words from the high frequency list. We are making good progress at learning about dinosaurs. We sang our favourite songs, and we are learning a new one about dinosaurs. On Friday we made a delicious orange salad. Very little was left of the 15 oranges we prepared!
English: In English, we have been working with the sound s, and learning concept words (apple buy, pick, tree, truck, sell).
Science: In Science, We have continued
Social studies: In Social Studies, we have continued
Math: In math, we have continued one digit numbers.

Math
First graders learnt about 3D shapes: prisms, pyramids, sphere and cylinder. They learnt to recognize them by the shape of the base. They also continued practicing their addition and subtraction within 20.
Language Arts
In LA grade 1 read an informational text about Animal Groups. They compared and contrasted the different groups. They also learned about the verb be and reviewed the proper forms in present and past tense.
Science
In Science, grade 1 began to learn about weather and weather tools.
Math
In math the students practiced their addition and subtraction skills. Later they learnt to subtract 2-digit numbers with regrouping. They also practiced some money math.
Science
In science we talked about the Earth’s resources: soil, wood, rock, water. How do people use those? What do we make of them?
Language Arts
In LA, grade 2 read two folk tales “Chicken Licken” and “The Lion and the Mouse”. They discussed cause and effect within the stories and what the moral of each story was. They also learned about some irregular verbs (run, come, see, go).
