In math we learn to subtract 2-digit numbers with regrouping. We practiced the case with double 0 for example 200-67. The students also learnt the names of numbers in addition and subtraction: addends and sum; minuend, subtrahend and difference.
In science we learnt the difference between a natural resource and a product. We talked about what resources different products are made of and revised the chapter.
In Language Arts we read a nonfiction text about Growing Beans and discussed graphic and text features. We also continued working on irregular verbs.
In math this week we learnt more about the 2D and 3D shapes. We also compared numbers within 20 and continued practicing addition and subtraction.
In Language Arts we read a nonfiction text about astronauts and their jobs. We learned about Neil Armstrong and the first men on the moon. We also learned about questions and practiced how to properly punctuate sentences.
In Science we continued discussing weather and how weather changes in the four seasons. We learned about weather patterns and practiced reading temperature in Celsius.
This seemed to be the shortest week ever – the children had to work hard in Math and next week we’ll have another unit test – word problems and two step problems.
In Social Studies and Language Arts we are discussing about the same topic from different perspective – and this is the best way to remember facts – Early explorers (Spanish, French and English) and their interaction with the Native Americans and Native American Legends. In Writing we learned about subject/verb agreement and next week we’ll focus on PARAGRAPHS 🙂
Speaking of writing – I am proud to report the display of their beautiful writing pieces – here a few from Valentine’s Day – a love letter or a love story, and stories with animals and morals 🙂
n Science we learned about migrating and hibernating animals and what they do to survive and other adaptations both of plants and animals. There will be a test on Tuesday during the Social Studies and we’ll have SS on Wednesday instead. In Art all the students made beautiful masks for themselves and in Swimming they’re practicing and improving their backstroke swimming technique in two groups according to their level. So to recap, I’m glad to have all the students, two tests next week (Math and Science) and Grade 3 students making progress in every area ❤ Have a great weekend! Ms Simona
