Math

This week in math the 3rd graders revisited the concept of fractions. They learn to compare and simplify fractions. Then we went back to long division with or without remainders and solved some division word problems.

This past Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Our class observed the holiday by learning more about Martin Luther King Jr. and civil rights. In turn, we also studied the lives and contributions of Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges. In ICT class the students typed paragraphs about these civil rights leaders and practiced copying and pasting pictures onto their documents.

In projects the students continued with STEM Careers! We reviewed what STEM stands for and what STEM Careers are. Then this week, we were graphic designers and food scientists! We had a blast!

In science we discussed vaccines: what they are, what they do, and why they were a groundbreaking invention.
