Language Arts: In Language Arts we reviewed irregular past tense verbs and began to work on contractions. We also read two nonfiction texts and discussed author’s purpose and information we had learned from each text.
Math: In math we practiced 2-digit subtraction and addition with regrouping and we learned to subtract from full tens without regrouping, for example 80-7.
Science: In science we started our unit on weather. We discussed various different types of clouds and forms of precipitation.
Great news this week! We welcomed a new student, a first boy in our class!
Apart from participating in a theater show and celebrating Chinese New Year, we did study a bit as well 😉
English: Our focus was identifying characters and their actions in a story. Spelling test words: eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty.
Math: We started working with place value: finding groups of tens, counting them, adding ones, moving around the 100 grid.
The kids asked me to include the link to a ‘place value baking’ game they really love 🙂
Science: We started the topic of habitats.
