This week we had our spelling and vocab test. We also learned about adverbs. We read an informational text about Native Americans and some Native American poetry.
This week we have been presenting our science projects and have learned about many different topics from our classmates!
English: We read a new story and worked on identifying and describing its plot – beginning, middle, end.
New spelling words: addition, subtraction, fiction, division, education, confusion, vacation, location, explosion, direction
Math: We focused on word problems with measuring. We talked about DIFFERENCE and TOTAL on a number line and in the equations we already know. Also. the kids learnt about PERIMETER and how to measure it.
Science: We worked mainly on our rain gauges. The kids took them home together with a 14 days rain log that is due on May 11th.
One of the groups measuring perimeters of different objects in the playground.
The kindergarten children compared the weight of different objects, guessing which ones are heavier/lighter. They learned the sound “ee”, and they practised reading short sentences. We talked about seeds, and planted more seeds; we made some observations about the plants (which ones are growing, those which are bigger/smaller). We tasted sunflower seeds. We talked about new technology and old technology. We watched an old Mickey Mouse cartoon and compared it with new cartoons. The children practised team work building a maze. They were invited to sing a song in front of their peers.
