English: In English, we have been working with the sound u, and reviewing concept words (city, country, farm neighbor, people, town).
Science: In Science, We have continued with the effects of weather on people and what clothing people need to have for different weather.
Social studies: In Social Studies, we have continued with the community and wants and needs and different jobs.
Math: In math, we have continued with solid shapes and counting up to ten.

In math we practiced the money calculations and skip counting up to 200. Then we revised place value, writing numbers with words and addition in columns with regrouping.
In science we talked about the needs of the plants and the parts of plants. Then we discussed the plant life cycle and how seeds are produced in the fruit or in the cones in case of conifers.
In LA we read a fiction story “Mrs. Penna’s Baklava” and a school news article. We also learned about pronouns.
In math we started working on bigger numbers: up to 20. The students learn to count it, skip count by 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s. They did some calculations on the number line and solved word problems. They also learnt about even and odd numbers.
In Language Arts we read a biography about Dr. Seuss, a famous author whose stories we have been really enjoying. We discussed rhyming words and the humor in his stories. We also learned about singular and plural nouns.
In science we reviewed various environments of animals and plants and how they survive. We also talked more about food chains and how animals get their energy.
The kindergarten children are working hard on their Christmas show. Every day it gets a little better. We learned sums to 8 and our last shape, the octogon. We are still working on our aquarium project, it looks great! We learned the sound h and r. We made decorations for our windows, and we decorated our little Christmas tree. We coloured the flags of the countries we come from.
