In Science we have been learning about the three states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. We have begun to explore how they change or stay the same when combined with other things.
In LA we read a fiction story about Frog and Toad and discussed different story elements. We identified the problem and solution. We also reviewed adjectives.
In math we learnt about telling time: how to tell if it’s AM or PM? The students made their own clocks and practiced showing and telling different times: full hours, half past and in 5-minute intervals. We also practiced using the calendar: months, days of the week and different ways of writing the date.
In LA we have been working on improving our independent writing and reading comprehension. We have also learned about special pairs of words in the english language such as antonyms, synonyms, and homonyms.
In math the students start basic multiplication by adding the same number repeatedly. They also continue practicing addition and subtraction with regrouping and solving word problems.
In science we learn about states of matter: solids, liquids and gases and how they change from one to the other if we add or subtract temperature.
2nd graders prepared a beautiful surprise for all the teachers this week. They wrote a little poem and made a big sign: “Thank you teachers”. After sharing roles and rehearsing, they invited all the teachers for a short performance. All of that in secret and completely on their own! We are all very touched! Thank you 2nd grade!
